Welcome to Where Next Boomers, a resource and visual guide to help my fellow Boomers find the perfect place to start their retirement.
Where Next Boomers began out of my own frustrating search. As my husband, Jim, and I looked for places to retire, I noticed a lack of resources, misleading photos, and even outdated information, making visualizing our next step very difficult.

So, I'll be exploring the U.S., sharing amazing places to retire or relocate to. All the locations are chosen based on important lifestyle elements, such as affordability, culture, climate, recreation, and access to airports, hospitals, and other various places.

Explore our locations in the menu, subscribe to the YouTube channel, and follow us on social media for the latest destinations. If there is somewhere you want to see us travel to, visit our Contact Page to submit a suggestion!

Hi! I'm Donna Ballard, the founder and creator of Where Next Boomers, a visual guide to help you find your next place to settle down and enjoy retirement.

My husband and I moved to Plano, TX four years ago after living in Irvine, CA for almost 20 years. I was spoiled living in California - beautiful area and spectacular weather! Honestly, those two features are hard to beat (in my opinion). While I did like living in California, there are aspects that are harder to handle. California is a very expensive place to live! We moved to Plano, TX for more space and a lower cost of living. No state income tax is a nice perk!

Last year, I began searching for our next possible location and ran into a frustrating scenario. While there may have been a lot of information regarding a town or city, after visiting the town, I realized the stated information might not be as reported, and the town lacked what I was looking for as far as housing, recreation, cultural venues, dining and entertainment.

As my search continued, I realized I was passionate about making this experience better for other Boomers. An idea formed to create a visual guide of destinations around the country, so people who may be looking to retire could get a feel for what these towns and cities are truly like, rather than what is being printed in a brochure, posted on a website, or in a national magazine. And thus, Where Next Boomers site and YouTube channel came to life as a way to truly "visit" an area without having to travel there.

Thank you for stopping by, and best of luck in your search for an amazing place to live!
